The experimentation campaign conducted within the framework of the Energy Flame 2011 Computer Assisted Exercise successfully started today. SACT NATO is conducting two experiments one concentrating on assessing the utility of a Comprehensive Legal Overview Virtual Information System (CLOVIS) in an operational setting, while the other one is assessing the successful implementation of Strategic Communications at brigade level. The team has already conducted initial outreach towards all participants and it is envisaged that in depth coordination and data collection meetings will occur throughout the entire duration of the Exercise.

ACT's Capability Engineering Operational Experimentation Team is supporting the Balkan regional energy security Computer Assisted Exercise ENERGY FLAME 2011, hosted at Bulgaria’s National Military Training Center - “Charalitza”. The multi-national exercise is comprised of NATO and Partnership for Peace nations, as well as Government and Non-Government Organizations.    
ACT’s participation in ENERGY FLAME 2011 builds on previous regional collaboration efforts that began in early 2009. Most recently, ACT contributed expertise in Civil Military Interaction (CMI), Experimentation Analysis, Experimentation Awareness, and Civil-Military Knowledge Management in the planning and execution of the 2010 Bulgarian exercise and experiment PHOENIX 2010. The successful collaboration efforts set the foundation to further explore experiment opportunities both in Bulgaria and the Balkan region.

The CAX “ENERGY FLAME 2011” MAIN Planning Conference (MPC) was held in Sofia,Bulgaria from 15 to 16 of June 2011.
 Brigadier General Vasil DIMITROV, COS Joint Operational Command delivered an opening speech. The session started with introducing the delegations, first contacts, presentation of the agenda and administrative remarks.
The conference was held in a constructive and friendly environment. The Chairman complimented all participants for their professional and efficient work during the plenary sessions. All participants thanked to the host nation for warm hospitality and good organization and good management of the MPC.
The Final Coordination Conference will be held from 04-06 October 2011 in Sofia
